How far are we from hearing about a story
like this in the United  States?  Two men in Singapore were
sentenced to jail terms for making “callous and reckless remarks on
racial or religious subjects.” One of the men received a one month jail
term and the other received a one day jail term.  I find it
particularly disturbing that the AP article called the one day sentence
“a nominal prison term.”  Going to jail for something you say is
never nominal, even if it was for 1 minute.
