Chad correctly points out that Bush:
“used the phrase “freedoms we enjoy” in the present tense.”
So, according to Bush we are all currently free from fear. What are those terror alerts about?
On Joe’s point, the 1980s gave us neclear winter and the huge best seller “Ground Zero.” Free from fear, are you kidding? the world was paranoid back in the 80s.
I continue to stand by my point. Bush’s use of the term is politically, philosophically, and historically incoherent. But let me say, it does make for colorful rhetoric.
