Wondering how North Carolina universities are doing in supporting free speech on their campuses? It’s an especially important subject in light of the recent incident in the NC State Free Expression Tunnel and the appointment of a commission by UNC President Erskine Bowles to look at student conduct and hate speech.

Friday morning, my husband, Rick, and I will be hosting WPTF’s North Carolina’s Morning News and, in the 7 am hour, we’ll be joined by Samantha Harris of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE). She’ll discuss the group’s new report on university crackdowns on free speech and tell us how North Carolina campuses are doing in this regard. Harris will also comment on the NC State incident and tell us if her organization plans to challenge any rules that may come from Mr. Bowles’ commission.

You can access the show at 680 AM in the greater Triangle and eastern North Carolina, or listen online at www.wptf.com. Click on “Listen Live.” Harris will join us from 7 to 7:30 a.m.
