The Triad’s favorite liberal, Rosemary Roberts, bemoans the invasion of “McMansions” in stately Irving Park.

Roberts teases us a bit before hinting at her solution:

You probably think I’m a grump who scorns those who build super-sized houses on small lots. Hey, this is a free country, so build what you like.

On second thought, some local governments in the nation restrict McMansion construction in certain neighborhoods by “limiting new homes to 40 percent of the lot size,” according to The News & Observer. Raleigh is not one of them — and neither is Greensboro.

But hey, restricting new homes to 40 percent of lot size makes more room to park the SUVs, right?
