Bad enough that CMS board vice chair Kit Cramer actually deploys “root causes” in a non-ironic or satirical mode, but her reaction to the school bond failure seems to lack any signs of actual leadership on the issue.

• CMS, perhaps in collaboration with UNC Charlotte’s College of Architecture, should host a competition to develop a design for a less expensive school facility and involve the community in providing input on needs.

Yeah, that’s a bullet point CMS parents and taxpayers were just waiting to see. Why does Charlotte insist on trying to re-invent the wheel? Cost-effective school construction methods are out there. Use them.
