NC Attorney General Roy Cooper has found someone to prosecute for
“price gouging” and he’s just not going to take it anymore! Any
self-respecting, aspiring Governor wannabe needs a headline and he
finally got one. I pulled the following from the WRAL story,
interestingly enough he says nothing about the windfall profits that
the state is receiving in gas tax revenue. NC now has the highest
average gax price in the lower 48 due to their tax structure.
“I won’t stand for a gas supplier leaning on a local station to hike
prices,” said Cooper. “Consumers and businesses are already paying more
than ever before for gas. They don’t need gas prices hiked even more by
somebody trying to make a fast buck.”
Prosecute the business, keep a blind eye to the revenue gouging.
