The increased black-voter turnout for Barack Obama on Tuesday helped ensure the victory in California of Prop. 8, an amendment to the state constitution that defines marriage as between a man and a woman only. Because exit polls show a majority of blacks voted for the amendment, a blame-the-blacks push is growing in the gay community.
Tensions between gays and blacks have grown so since Tuesday that disappointed gays are using the N-word to characterize black gays, even those who fought the proposition. Durham’s Pam Spaulding has the details.
