At last night’s meeting the Greensboro City Council officially scrapped the proposal brokered by former Guilford County Commissioner Skip Alston to renovate the rundown Bessemer Shopping Center.

The city will now review two new development proposals expected to be addressed at the Nov. 12 council meeting. Seems like no matter how hard the city tries to get out of businesses in which it doesn’t belong, they can’t seem to cut the purse strings. It will be interesting to see what the prospective developers will bring before the council.

With that in mind, here’s a prediction — the city will soon find itself in the carousel business. Yeah, I know the Rotary Club is raising the money….
