Maybe the biggest surprise in Gboro’s City Council primary is former Mayor Bill Knight’s strong show in District 4. Knight finished 10 percentage points behind incumbent Nancy Hoffmann–definitely within striking distance in the general election in spite of Hoffmann’s huge fundraising advantage.

Otherwise not a lot of surprises, unless you count council member Nancy Vaughan’s 11-point advantage over incumbent Robbie Perkins in the mayor’s race, given the prevailing sentiment that there are more reasons not to elect Perkins than there are to elect Vaughan.
