I was not able to watch last night’s Greensboro City Council meeting, and I’m having trouble figuring out when I’m going to have eight hours of my ever-shortening life to tune in. However, while scrolling through the video I did come across the exchange (around fifteen-minute mark) between former police Capt. Charles Cherry and council member Zack Matheny regarding comments Matheny made in the Rhino. It was a bizarre scene, and while it was but a small part of the meeting, in my mind it was symbolic of the council’s total loss of control.
At any rate, the N&R reports the council adopted the redistricting map proposed by council member Trudy Wade. Fellow council member Dianne Bellamy-Small said the process had turned into a charade, but I have a feeling she and Dr. Guarino disagree about exactly who was making the absurd pretense.
