I guess it takes pretty big cajones to go before a City Council and ask them to cough up $52k or else they’re moving to Memphis.

I’m not sure what it says about a City Council that unanimously votes to cough up $52k. I would hope that one council member —just one would vote no on principle alone.

I will be fair, however. Council members Trudy Wade and Mary Rakestraw questioned and voted against approving the $1 million-plus contract for Brooks Lumber Co. to build a 1,500 linear-foot section of the downtown greenway.
