Cathy Young has a very good column in today’s Boston Globe on the conflict raging over the supposed imbalance of men and women in top science faculty positions.

To take the “it’s all bias!” argument seriously, you have to believe that the men who are in decision-making positions — brilliant scientists whose instincts are to look at the results not the irrelevant factors sucy as a person’s race, gender, etc. — start acting like little boys with a “No Girls Allowed” sign over the clubhouse when a woman applies for a faculty post. That doesn’t pass the sniff test.

Is there any other group that’s allegedly victimized by the irrational bias of these science guys?
