Here is my nominee for the George Orwell Award for the most creative use of political language.

Then, on May 10, 2010, former auto czar Steve Rattner publicly admitted that “GM may have slightly elasticized the reality of things” in its claims of repayment [of the government bailout money].

“elasticized the reality of things.”  How about GM just lied about paying back the bailout money?

Our friends at CEI in Washington filed a freedom of information request to get the documents related to GM’s claim that they paid back all of the government bailout money.  It took nearly a year rather than the 20 day statutory requirement, but they finally got them and they prove GM and Treasury engaged in a campaign of deception. Excuse me,  I should have said: they lied about paying back the money.
