George Will has an excellent column on the implosion of California. The “Golden State” has turned to lead. The budget is far in the red, people and businesses are fleeing. Yet when the pols propose to charge more to attend the highly subsidized state universities, the left goes crazy.
Will notes that California didn’t become Argentina overnight. It’s worth mentioning that a century ago, Argentina was the second most prosperous nation in the western hemisphere, behind on the US. Now it’s an economic wreck, thanks to interventionist socialist/fascist politics. It’s what must happen once the tax consumers get the upper hand and begin to extract more and more wealth from the dwindling number of producers.
Obama’s agenda will turn the whole nation into a huge version of Argentina.
