Apparently UNC-CH will press very hard on this issue of expanding the out-of-state enrollment cap for diversity’s sake. Read this planted article in The Daily Tar Heel today.
Apparently there’s an exodus from North Carolina of students who get accepted into UNC-CH but go elsewhere because UNC-CH isn’t “diverse” enough. (Naturally, the DTH had access to a couple of those right away.)
Now, it follows therefore that UNC-CH should cut the available slots to North Carolinians in order to keep more of those who turn them down.
Dear prospective UNC-CH student: Nandi Cohen from North Carolina chose Michigan. We’re sorry to say there isn’t a slot for you and many others this year, because we want the Nandi Cohens back.
P.S. Thanks for voting in support of the Higher Education Bonds in 2000, to expand access to UNC to more students from North Carolina!
