The Pigeon Forge city commissioners voted to allow beer to be served outdoors and at the municipal events center. It isn’t so much that the city is outgrowing its stodgy prohibitionist mentality. Beer, like illegal drugs, is easy money because the masses always need shortcuts to feel good when they’re down and out financially. Non-producing economic sectors, like government, can skim lots of profits by taxing fire water and then collect fines by catching people when they’re intoxicated.
