Polk County’s Economic and Tourism Development Commission chair Bob Morgan resigned. At the last county commissioners’ meeting, he spoke, faulting the commissioners for reducing the ETDC’s role to advisory-only and then not paying attention to anything it recommended. He further thought more money should go toward economic development. The county funds fulltime recreation and agricultural economic development positions, but the ETDC director is only part-time contract labor. Not wishing to while away life’s precious hours coming up with ideas that won’t see the light of day, Morgan expressed his wishes to live meaningfully while giving the commissioners the opportunity to contract with somebody whose opinions they might find worthy of a listen now and then.
