What a surprise.

Bloomberg reports that beat-down, six-time bailout loser GMAC is cutting 500 jobs and closing down its Charlotte mortgage office. WSOC puts the number of jobs lost at 115 and tries to get Mecklenburg County Commissioner Chair Jennifer Roberts on the record about the incentives the county — and state and city — handed GMAC last year:

…she will look into the terms of the deal. Roberts said the incentives act like a reward, and that the company will only get them if they prove they’ve lived up to the deal and brought jobs to Charlotte.

Recall that GMAC said amid great hoopla — and a visit from THE Bev Perdue — that it was adding 200 jobs to the local economy. Back in March — less than a year ago — GMAC got a $4.5 million gift from the state of North Carolina, $153,000 in cash from Mecklenburg County, and $84,000 in bribes from the city for that announcement.

Good luck getting that money back, suckers.
