One of the most brilliant people I know wrote a short story about his parents once. His dad was going senile, and he went to the funny farm because he would watch the news and say things like, “It’s all the same stories. Only the names have been changed.” Then, his mom started having the same delusion.

So, today I join them. As I peruse the headlines, I see some famous person made an immature remark, and now lots of folks have to jump on the bandwagon and condemn said person to exalt their self-righteousness. We also have legislators mourning the fact that there was no way possible to get around raising taxes. Try not to be too surprised, but the neighborhood doesn’t want new buildings going up nextdoor, either. Asheville City Council convened in closed session, but they can’t say anything. And another Congressman is unable to get the federal government to reimburse Swain County what they’re owed from the North Shore “settlement.” Elected officials will be meeting next week, and, guess what? There were fireworks on the Fourth of July.

I know, I know. I can hear you complaining already through your computer, “You already posted that!!!”
