The N.C. House and Senate minority leaders used their weekly news conference this morning to push for action on two bills languishing now in the General Assembly.

The first concerns one section of H.B. 1485, the N.C. Illegal Immigration Prevention Act. One piece of that bill would require legal status verification for any person jailed in the state on felony or DWI charges.

The second issue is H.B. 263, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. The issue has been in the headlines in recent days because of the June murder in Raleigh of Jennifer Nielsen and her unborn son.
