In what could be their last formal news conference of the year, Republican legislative leaders drew attention to the GOP-supported bills they fear will die with the end of the legislative session.

At 4:05 in the news conference video, Sen. Eddie Goodall, R-Union, outlines his efforts to learn more about the legality of Gov. Mike Easley’s travel arrangements. Prompted by a Carolina Journal article, Goodall said he sent official inquiries about the governor and First Lady Mary Easley to the attorney general’s office.

At 6:11 in the video, Rep. David Lewis, R-Harnett, describes H.R. 2806, a resolution “urging Congress to allow North Carolina to determine whether offshore exploration and drilling should be allowed off the coast of North Carolina.” (You might remember Senate Republicans and GOP gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory drawing attention to the same issue.
