Republican legislative leaders used their weekly news conference to renew their call for committee hearings to investigate “lost” N.C. Highway Patrol travel records, along with the circumstances surrounding the creation and funding of former First Lady Mary Easley’s state-funded job at N.C. State University.

House Minority Leader Paul Stam, R-Wake, used the occasion to respond to personal attacks he labeled “lies, prevarications, and misrepresentations.”

Stam and Senate Minority Leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, also responded to questions about the state’s budget shortfall.
