North Carolina now has a Good Samaritan Law, allowing people to summon assistance for drug overdoses or alcohol poisoning for underage drinkers without fearing prosecution in limited circumstances.

The Good Samaritan Law was one of four bills signed into law by Gov. Pat McCrory on Tuesday.

The law, which takes effect on Dec. 1, also provides limited civil and criminal liability for people who provide an antidote to people who overdose on opiates.
