The Town Council of Forest Hills has decided not to purchase the golf course that would have broken their bank without a tax hike. The town, which has an annual operating budget of $80,350, was offered the course for $1.2 million, to which would be added costs for closing, insurance, financing, maintenance, and bringing the parcel up to town codes. No citizen voiced support for the purchase.
If the developer, Chris Green, really wants to unload his property, he might work to get Tim Moffitt out of office so the City of Asheville can buy it without targeted obstructionism.
