North Carolina government is looking to extend a generous hand to the poor through an earned-income tax credit, similar to the system already in place with the federal government. The biggest problem, said Joe Coletti in a Spotlight on the topic, is that the idea causes more problems then its worth. What help it does do, said Joe, will only occur at the margin. Chad Adams addressed other fiscal-restraint problems at the state level with county commissioners and activists in Mitchell County and with listeners of the Matt Mittan show, in Asheville. In a surprising, though definitely encouraging show of government restraint, Lt.
