President Obama says the stimulus package should create 3 million government jobs. The nation reportedly lost 693,000 private-sector jobs in December and roughly another 500,000 in November. There should be no need to belabor the greater inefficiencies government employment introduces, nor the value and opportunities lost by its paperwork. There is no need to elaborate on the shoddy quality government can produce with neither profit motive nor competition. There is no need to mention that government can only pay its employees with money taken from the private sector, minus a skim for overhead. Then, there’s a number of private sector hires employed to shuffle numbers around to help private companies deal with government (tax accountants, health and safety officers, grant administrators, etc.). Here’s a very nice summary by Locker Roy Cordato.

It seems most people can follow the course of expanding government control to its logical conclusion. If the program works and the economy improves, do the stimulus workers get stimulus pensions? Or, will government perpetuate the stimulus emergency lest we have to commit the vile act of laying off its dependents?

Unfortunately, as those of us on the president’s email list know, he “needs our help to spread the word and build support” for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Saith Obama:

Governor Tim Kaine has agreed to record a video outlining the recovery plan and answering questions about what it means for your community. You can submit your questions online and then invite your friends, family, and neighbors to watch the video with you at an Economic Recovery House Meeting.

My question is, “What the %#$@ are you doing to my country?” What’s yours?
