Corporate welfare giant Linamar, which has now merged with a Swiss company to become GF Linamar, has yet to decide if it wants to locate a new facility in Mills River or Columbia, SC. Mills River Mayor Larry Freeman had this to say about government’s hunger and the boons of the low-wage jobs Linamar could bring:

“That’s not just 350 jobs,” he said. “That’s 350 families. We need those people living in Mills River, buying local products, paying local property tax. It makes it really necessary that we begin to address affordable housing. We need those families to be in our schools, to be using our healthcare to contribute to this community.”
