Governor Perdue addressed the NC Association of Educators (NCAE) One Voice Rally on Tuesday. During her speech, Perdue declared, “This chapter belongs to us. These children belong to us.”
What did she mean by that statement? How “we” define “us” has a direct bearing on how North Carolinians educate their children. Her immediate audience was district school advocates and NCAE members. In her mind, do our children belong to them?
