N&R publishes another wish list, this one headlined 5 must-do projects for City Council. Since they all involve —do I need to say it again –everyone opening their wallets — that’s not an inaccurate headline.

Don’t think they’re order of the N&R’s priorities, because it’s hard to imagine they’d put the proposed downtown performing arts center last —behind “decide what to do with War Memorial Stadium.”

Regarding GPAC, the N&R says:

Private donors have raised a record amount of money for the planned Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. But before it can happen, the council needs to work out how this unique public-private partnership will work.

So far not so good on that front. Both the N&R and Rhino report that the city and the Community Foundation are nowhere near agreement on who will run GPAC, or at least say they do while Greensboro Coliseum manager Matt Brown does all the heavy lifting.

Mayor Nancy Vaughan coming out against forming a nonprofit to run GPAC is interesting, considering she’s all behind the Downtown University Campus, which is doing just that.

I know –Downtown University Campus is a more complex project that supposedly has buy-in from UNCG, N.C. A&T and GTTC, so it’s not necessarily an apples-apples comparison. Or is it?
