The controversial four-year assignments all high school students had been required to complete may not have educational value and would cost about $6.6 million to implement statewide, a legislative report said Wednesday.

In a slap to the State Board of Education, a legislative oversight commission decided lawmakers should repeal the requirement for students to do graduation projects before earning diplomas. Requiring the assignments should be left up to local districts, the panel said.

Sorry, I have to admit that I felt this thrill going up my leg when I read “slap to the State Board of Education.”
