A few weeks ago, I wrote about the campaign against for-profit universities. Part of the campaign focuses on their low graduation rates. But compare those rates (in graph) with graduation rates at four-year schools in the UNC system. Only UNC-Chapel Hill has a higher graduation rate than the public university average (74.4% vs 54.9%). Six UNC schools — NC A&T, NC Central, Fayetteville State, Winston-Salem State, UNC Pembroke, and Elizabeth City State — have lower graduation rates than private for-profit universities.
Chapel Hill | 74.4% |
School of the Arts | 51.4% |
UNCW | 44.5% |
NC State | 41.3% |
App State | 37.3% |
UNC Asheville | 29.8% |
East Carolina | 29.2% |
UNC Greensboro | 28.9% |
Western Carolina | 28.3% |
UNC Charlotte | 27.0% |
Elizabeth City St | 19.2% |
NC Central | 18.0% |
UNC Pembroke | 15.2% |
NC A&T | 15.1% |
