The N.C. Supreme Court has ruled that two taxpayers do have standing to challenge Gov. Mike Easley’s transfer of Highway Trust Fund money during the budget crunch earlier this decade.

The high court overruled the N.C. Court of Appeals in making this decision. Beyond the particulars of this case, the court also has taken a position on “taxpayer standing” consistent with the ideas supported by the N.C. Institute for Constitutional Law.
