A little EPA money for Reidsville and Eden, via the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments:

A new environmental grant program could help sell former industrial sites in Eden and Reidsville. The Piedmont Triad Council of Governments selected the two cities, along with Lexington, to take part in an U.S. Environmental Protection Association grant program called Brownfields Mill Projects.

“We were quick to ask to be a part of this,” Kelly Stultz, Eden planning and inspections director, said Monday.

The EPA awarded the PTCG $200,000 to help local municipalities identify former industrial sites that may be unattractive to potential investors because of environmental hazards such as soil and water contamination. The grant will also fund community involvement activities, market studies and initial environmental site assessments.
