I wrote earlier this month about the zoning battle involving Greensboro’s historic Julian Price Mansion, which was featured on an episode of the A&E show “Hoarders.” The owners were requesting a special permit from the City of Greensboro to operate a bed an breakfast in the mansion, a request that was opposed by many in the Fisher Park neighborhood, mainly due to some bad blood between the neighbors and the owners over “events” that had taken place on the property.
Bottom line—neighbors showed in force at last night’s zoning meeting, and many who spoke doubted that the owner–Michael Fuko-Rizzo–could be trusted not to hold for-profit events on the property. The Zoning Commission sided with the neighbors, and denied the request for the special use permit. The vote was 4-3.
Now the question is whether or not the owners will appeal to the City Council. I would not be surprised.
