The City of Greensboro is still in the process of hiring a new city manager to replace the ousted Mitchell Johnson. At the rate the City Council is going, it could be several months —–possibly after a new council is elected in November —- before a choice is made.

But note the list of “stakeholders” put together by assistant City Manager Denise Turner who are scheduled to meet with hiring consultant scheduled to meet with Colin Baenziger:

Turner created the list of “stakeholders,” and it is weird. It is made up mostly of government and nonprofit organizations.

There is one civic club on the list, not the Kiwanis, Rotary or Civitans, but the Greensboro Men’s Club. From the photos of the club, it appears to be an all-black organization. Wade said she had never heard of it and asked what it was. Turner responded it was an “east Greensboro” organization, which is the current politically correct way to say a black organization.

Also on the list is the East Market Street Development Corp, an organization funded by the city and clearly in east Greensboro, and the Randleman Road Merchants Association, also considered in east Greensboro.

….Turner put the list together and, according to Turner, here are the stakeholders in Greensboro: “Chamber of Commerce, Chancellors (UNC-G, NC A&T, Bennett College for Women, Guilford College, Greensboro College and GTCC), Greensboro Delegation to the General Assembly, Superintendent of Schools, Action Greensboro, East Market Street Development Corp, Greensboro Housing Association – Tina Akers-Brown, Greensboro Partnership, TREBIC, Randleman Road Merchant [sic] Association, Downtown Greensboro Inc, Greensboro Men’s Club, Greensboro Merchant [sic] Association, United Way (Executive Director),” and then two were added at the insistence of Wade – High Point Road Merchants Association and County Commissioners.

Guarino weighed in last week, accurately noting that “even after Mitchell Johnson was terminated, more of the usual nonsense is taking place.” So true.
