Greg Mitchell, editor of the newspaper trade rag Editor & Publisher, wrote a satire that was apparently so heavy handed and juvenile that he pulled it from Huffington Post. I can’t tell you if it’s as bad as some say because, well, it’s no longer there. He emailed Mickey Kaus to say: “Within minutes of posting yesterday, I recognized that it was, indeed, ‘heavyhanded’ and had it ‘unpublished.'”

In the blog world it’s considered bad form to erase something that is simply embarrassing, or that makes you look a fool, but this is apparently what Mitchell has done. Remember, this is the guy who is the editor of the magazine for newspaper editors and publishers, the industry bible. What does that tell you?

But there’s more. Some years ago Mitchell admitted to making up news as a young reporter. I wrote at the time, when I was still working in the mainstream media, that this should disqualify Mitchell from the editorship of E&P. But, no. His reign continues, as does the embarrassment.
