Charlotte’s alleged US Attorney Gretchen Shappert is climbing her way to Main Justice, ostensibly on the back of her tough, “gang” prosecutions. Be very afraid, America.
After 20 years immersed in it, Shappert knew the local legal lay of the land inside and out. Yet Shappert willfully turned a blind-eye toward the total dysfunction in state and local prosecutions of crime in order to provide easy pickings for her federal prosecutions of routine street crime. Even more damning is the fact that prosecution of the corrupt Jim Black gang was driven by Raleigh rather than her office in Charlotte.
As a result I have absolutely no faith in her skills, judgment, or integrity. Just pray she does not end up federal judge some day.
