I was reading some comments from esteemed economists this morning, and marveling at, for example, how many in their ranks did not see the housing bubble coming. Granted, people can be quite resourceful and unpredictable, but some things should go without saying. In general, if one wants prosperity, they should not sit back and wait for it, they should try to create it. A few hours before that, I was reading from an old book wherein Pericles was paraphrased as noting that poverty is not to accept one’s disadvantages, but to stop trying to overcome them.

And so, once again, we have people sitting around a table trying to make the world prosperous. You see, if you can make the people put these businesses here, and those there, and get the latest fashions in architecture . . .
