Every so often you come across an article that runs contrary to the conventional wisdom that the more students we manage to push into college, the “better educated” the country will become. Jim Hunt used to call higher education the “economic engine” of the state!
Here is a good USA Today article in that category. The most memorable line is that the fastest growing student group by percentage at one Texas community college where the emphasis is strictly on job skills are people who already have master’s degrees.
