Usually, localities fight tooth and nail for growth.  Isn’t that the justification used for lucrative incentives deals? Aren’t those tax breaks all about bringing in new businesses, new jobs, new housing, and the like?  Yet, some areas want to keep growth away.  Johnston County may go so far as to instigate a China-like growth policy; instead of limited the number of children you have, like our Asian friends have done, Johnston County wants to limit the number of houses you can build. What’s Michael Sanera saying about this? I’m sure it’s something similar to what he’s telling Asheboro about their greenway proposal.  Something to the effect of, oh, dumb, maybe? But, where some areas take steps to displace growth, other areas will embrace it. With the added growth, comes traffic.  To help pay for and upkeep of roads, some think that the free market might hold the answer.  George Leef reviewed a book on the topic for Regulation Magazine.
