The Mountaineer is telling us, “Law enforcement urges folks to be safe for New Year’s celebrations.” Part of the persuasion involves “augmented patrols.” In the context of my experience, this means, if you don’t get off work until after dark, and a headlight is burnt out, safely pull to the side of the road and wait inside your car until morning so you don’t get a stinkin’ $100 fine payable immediately. At least that was my punishment in Ohio over Labor Day weekend. We’re more reasonable in this state.
