We knew Greensboro Transit Authority’s $2 million deficit is PART’s fault, at least indirectly —as PART’s ridership declined, so did GTA’s federal funding for transporting PART riders within city limits.

But in today’s N&R transit manager Libby James says –according to the N&R — “much of the shortfall stems from inaccurate financial projections prepared by the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation,” which in turn “left GTA anticipating more from the federal government than it will receive.”

As for the N&R lede that GTA “is not in immediate financial danger,” I’d say running out of reserves by 2016 is pretty immediate financial danger.
