James E. Prieger is a Professor at Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and was formerly an Assistant Professor in the economics department at the University of California, Davis. His research interests include illicit trade in tobacco markets, health policy related to tobacco products, regional economic analysis, and other policy-related areas of microeconomics. He possesses 25 years of consulting experience for various industries and was a Senior Economist with the Federal Communications Commission. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in scholarly books. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Reason Foundation and Senior Economist at BOTEC Analysis Corp.
