James R. Otteson received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Having previously taught at Georgetown University and at the University of Alabama, he is currently joint professor of philosophy and economics, and chair of philosophy, at Yeshiva University in New York. He is author of Adam Smith’s Marketplace of Life (Cambridge, 2002) and Actual Ethics (Cambridge, 2006), the latter of which won the Templeton Enterprise Award in 2007. His most recent book is Adam Smith (Continuum, 2011). He is currently completing a book entitled The End of Socialism; it will be published by Cambridge early in 2013.
