Janie Neeley is the Director of Educators for Choice and serves on the North Carolina Education Alliance Advisory Board.
She has a Master of Education Degree in Reading/Literacy Education from the University of Virginia, attended Columbia University Teacher’s College, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary/Middle School English Education from the College of Charleston.
Janie began her career in South Carolina as a public school teacher working primarily with remedial readers in the intermediate and middle school grades. Her work and experience later prompted a move to the district office where she provided professional development training to teachers as their District Literacy Coach. Later, she continued her professional development work moving into higher education as the Director of Teaching and Learning Enhancement at Midlands Technical College.
In January 2005, Janie with her husband Chris and their two children moved to Clayton, North Carolina. She is currently a stay-at-home mom and frequent contributor to the Locke Foundation’s Locker Room web log and the Carolina Journal.
