Representative Jones has served as a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives since October 1, 2019, replacing Dr. Greg Murphy who won a special election for the US House of Representatives. He is an anesthesiologist and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 2000-08.

Representative Jones serves on the Aging, Appropriations, Appropriations Health and Human Services,Education-Universities, Health, and Insurance Committees, as well as The NC Child Fatality Task Force and the B-3 Interagency Commission. He is also a Co-Chair of the House Select Committee on COVID-19Healthcare Working Group.

Representative Jones was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of NorthCarolina at Chapel Hill and the Wake Forest School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. Aftercompleting his anesthesiology residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, hejoined the East Carolina Anesthesia Associates in 2003. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and previously served as the president of the North Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists.

He and his wife, Laura, have three children and live in Greenville, North Carolina.
