North Carolina State Senator Brent Jackson is a co-chairman of the Senate Appropriations/Base Budget Committee, and a past co-chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources and theSenate Agriculture/Environment/Natural Resources Committee. He is also co-chairman of the Joint Legislative Oversight Commission on Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources, Joint Legislative Program Evaluation Oversight Committee, Joint Agriculture and Forestry Awareness Study Commission and Joint Agriculture and Rural Caucus of the North Carolina General Assembly.
Additionally, Senator Jackson sits on the Senate Finance Committee, Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Redistricting Committee, Rules and Operations of the Senate Committee, and Senate Select Committee on Nominations. In 2016, he was elected to the Legislative Board of the international organization State Agriculture and Rural Leaders, and was recently elected as President earlier this year.
He has been involved in agriculture for 40 years and is the co-founder of Jackson Farming Company of Autryville. Jackson Farming Company grows watermelons, cantaloupes, honeydews, pumpkins, strawberries, broccoli, sweet potatoes, cotton, corn, wheat, soybeans, peanuts, and flue-cured tobacco.
Senator Jackson was born in Clinton, NC in Sampson County and lives in Autryville with Debbie, his wife of 41 years. He represents Senate District 10 which includes Sampson and Duplin Counties, as well as part of Johnston County. He is active in his church, Union Grove Baptist Church, and is the father of three sons and grandfather of three grandchildren.
