Fair enough, Sen. Kay Hagan was lone Triad federal legislator to respond to the N&R’s interview request regarding the so-called fiscal cliff. Unfortunately, she didn’t say much:

Q. Would you support new revenues to address the nation’s debt if they were paired with spending cuts, including tax increases on the wealthiest Americans?

Hagan: We need to enact a balanced deficit reduction plan that will help our economy grow and get people back to work. The unemployment rate is still too high in our state, and that’s why I’m committed to working with my colleagues — Republicans and Democrats — to find a responsible approach to fix our budget mess and help bring economic certainty to our state and the entire country.

Hagan did, however, stress ‘tax reform’ in an interview with NBC-17 (video below). However, she added “that investments in education and infrastructure need to rise,” citing as an example areas of rural North Carolina that “are desperately in need of high-speed broadband access to be competitive.” Just so happens that a down east newspaper weighed in on that very subject. Indeed it wasn’t positive.
