Sen. Kay Hagan takes on not just Thom Tillis, not just Phil Berger, but the entire General Assembly over unemployment insurance:

“The General Assembly knowingly and willingly violated federal law, and I refuse to let the people of our state suffer because of their reckless actions,” Hagan said. “North Carolinians struggling to get by while looking for work should receive the same benefits as citizens in other states.”

Pretty serious accusation. Yet as the “left-leaning” Economic Policy Institute points out later in the article, unemployment’s bad as it’s been since the “height of the previous downturn in the early 2000s.” If unemployment’s a battle Democrats want to fight after six years, then Republicans should them have at it.
