Red State reports on Kay Hagan’s membership in Greensboro Country Club, which wasn’t desegregated until 1995. The N&R’s Mark Binker’s not so fired up this time.

I’ll just sit back and see how the N&R handles this. Remember, Binker was understandably upset over fellow reporter Joe Killian’s incident at the Palin rally, yet he crossed the line when he “wondered whether Republicans aren’t in some respect giving their supporters license for this sort of crap” and expressed his displeasure with the McCain campaign. Passing on this story would seriously call his credibility into question, so surely that won’t happen.

Either Hagan needs to directly address the issue or the paper needs to find out if they’re any holes in Red State’s story. Silence on both parts would only confirm it. If it’s the case, Hagan’s membership in a segregated country club certainly would in “some respect” give license for that sort of crap.
